At a recent stay, a Marriott employee thanked me for being a Lifetime Platinum member. His next comment, however, was pretty interesting. He went on to say that LTPs make up the top 5% of Marriott's business. I am not sure if that is true or not, but it did make me wonder about the distribution of Marriott Rewards members across the different levels and their overall ranking with Marriott guests.
Adding up my total nights, I have stayed well over 3 years in Marriott hotels, but that number seems to pale in comparison to others I have seen post in these forums. It would be interesting to see the distribution of of users throughout the MR ecosystem and how members rank with each other.
If his comment is true, then knowing that I am in the top 5% of Marriott's business would give me a certain level of pride. But knowing where in that 5% I actually am would be quite interesting. Does Marriott publish such numbers/rankings or in today's world of gamification, is there any reason why they wouldn't want to do so?
