There is a Starbucks located on-site at the Marriott Marquis at 1535 Broadway / Times Square in NY. Putting aside the fact they charge a 25% premium on the typical prices of NY starbucks, they also refuse to accept the Starbucks APP to pay for drinks and refuse to accept the Starbucks free drink rewards associated with the APP.
This week I spoke to the Starbucks Manager of this store, asking why they do not accept the Mobile APP. Their reasoning was that this location is affiliated with Marriott, and as a result of Marriott IT Systems, they are unable to install the Mobile APP system in their store.
So how does Marriott feel about being blamed as the reason a Starbucks store is unable to update its payment options to the 21st century? My next step will be to contact the Manager of the Marriott Marquis.
